Currently Matthew drives for the Chris Woods Racing Team in the Allison Legacy Racing Series. Chris and his team coach and mentor young drivers in the Bandolero circuit to help them achieve their dreams. Located in the heart of racing county, Woody and Christi Woods have been able to consistently put their cars and driver on the podium in the most competitive racing region in the country.

Interest beyond racing: Actively involved in Theater Arts, Matthew is a member of John Casablancas Studios; An accomplished dancer, actor, and comedian at heart with hobbies outside of driving, including flying radio control drones , and radio control car and boat racing.  He has also been a top competitor on the Lake Norman High School Wildcats Varsity Wrestling Team.

Between 2014- 2016 Matthew was one of the most popular drivers competing in the Bojangles Summer Shootout. He logs some of the most consistent times of any driver in his races. To date, Matthew has acquired 38 poles, 39 wins, 110 top fives and 53 top tens in only 153 starts.

Has been featured in the Mooresville Tribune Sports page in June 2015 and the Charlotte Observer in July 2015 and on Charlotte Motor Speedway website. Matthew has overcome the crippling Perthes’ disease after many operations. Has been the subject of numerous interviews and stories on the condition. He has been on many radio shows and was featured by Doug Kufner on NBC Sports during the 2013 Jack in the Box Summer Shootout - “Davey’s Drive to Nascar Stardom”.


Matthews Story

Matthew Davey is a 19 year old Professional race car driver from Mooresville, NC. His racing career spans 14 years through 2018. During the 2017 year season Matthew made his Rookie debut in the Allison Legacy Series full time earning the “Rookie of the Year” title at the season’s end.
For the 2018-2019 year season he will continue to race in this series full time and then move into Late Models for 2020.
He began his career in Super Karts on the road course in 2005 at age 5 competing in many top IKF Karting Series Events and on the Rotax Max Mazda Series and earned his first Championship by age 7. At 8 years old he was one of the youngest drivers to compete in the then new 125cc Mini Max division for Factory Birel. Matthew began racing on the oval asphalt tracks in 2008 in Bandoleros and after 8 seasons has become one of the country's top racers and recognizable names.
He has achieved many top honors and wins including 4 Arizona State Championship Titles between 2009 and 2012, a 3rd place Title in the 2015 US Bandolero Nationals and a 5th place Title in the 2016 US Bandolero Nationals. Also in 2016 he took home the Prestigious Bojangles Summer Shootout Series Championship Title in the Bandolero Outlaws Division.
Matthew has completed many TV and Radio Interviews for many motorsports networks including PRN and Performance Motorsports Network. He also has feature stories in the Mooresville Tribune, Charlotte Observer Sports, Charlotte Motor Speedways Media, and was featured by Doug Kufner on NBC sports Live during the 2013 Jack n the Box Summer Shootout Series - "Daveys Drive To Nascar Stardom".
Matthew supports many Charities and is a support advocate for Perthes disease and cancer. These would include Perthes.org and he is also a Race2Cure.org Driver.
Outside of Auto Racing he is one of Lake Norman High Schools Top wrestlers and a Champion Radio Control circle boat and offshore boat racer. His future goal is to race in NASCAR's top level. His favorite quote is: "The Future Belongs To Those Who Believe In The Beauty Of Their Dreams".
